Robin Clary’s passion for music began at a young age, starting piano lessons at the age of four. Her home was always filled with musicians, many professionals, and at an early age, she knew she would have a career in music. By the time she was in high school, she was competing in piano competitions as well as becoming involved in local orchestras with her second instrument, the clarinet. At the age of sixteen, she started giving piano lessons.

Robin has a B.A. in Music from California State University, Northridge. She studied with renowned concert pianist Francoise Regnat, as well as Dr. Eleanor Russell, an expert in Baroque styling. While attending college she began to develop a private studio comprising of advanced students who consistently won state competitions at the highest level.

Robin is a member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California, which she held the office of the president for six years in the Sierra Branch. She is currently the 2nd Vice President of the MTAC State Board.

Along with teaching, Robin is an adjudicator for major piano competitions. She judges for professional organizations such as the MTAC, MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) and CAPMT (California Association of Professional Music Teachers.)

Northern California became Robin’s home in 1990 with her husband and two children. Here she was introduced to the Yamaha Clavinova and all its benefits. In 2005, she was honored to be selected by the Yamaha Corp. of America (piano division) and Crystal Cruises as one of their piano teachers in the Passport to the Music program. Crystal Cruises offers its guests something special by providing adult piano classes using the Clavinova technology. To be part of the Crystal Cruise’s The “Creative Learning Institute” team has been such a great experience while being able to travel all over the world.

Realizing that new technology could motivate her students and add new excitement to her traditional lessons, she has developed a great balance between the two. For Robin, giving lessons provides the opportunity for everyone to experience the pleasure of music and all its joy.
